BALLBERRY – Branding and Containers Cantabrian Blueberries
Project for naming, branding and packaging for a new brand of blueberries from Cantabria.
Brand Design. This company from Cantabria needed innovative naming and branding for the image of their corporate identity and to start to trade its delicious blueberries.
With the naming, we wanted to give it a young and fresh feel, like the customer, to give it the image of a contemporary company with new, very vital ideas.
For the branding, the inspiration was the product itself which we presented in a simplified and very modern way. Simple shapes with a very powerful colour and contrasts. The font is also an important point as it gives it a very “American” feel.
Structural Design. We needed to develop the most sustainable solution possible and the product and the customer required it. We opted for the combination of a tray made of compostable paper pulp with a Kraft paper sleeve with sufficient weight to be able to stack several containers and withstand the moisture in the product.
We designed die-cuts for the sleeve that simulate small leaves with a carefully studied shape to allow sufficient ventilation without letting the products fall out of the inside.
On the other hand, as this company has online sales, they are transported by courier and needed a package that could transport various containers of blueberries. For this, we designed a base of corrugated cardboard with a customised lid to keep the product from falling out and to guarantee the integrity of the blueberries, and also to allow stacking.
Graphic design. The brand design developed by PackCo was applied, as were all of the legal details that must appear on food packaging, both for different size sleeves and for bulk transport boxes.
Production Management. For this project, the customer trusted PackCo with the management of the initial production. We take care of creating the necessary technical sheets with all of the specifications so that the supplier, at the factory, has no doubts about the guidelines to be followed when developing the project. We stay in constant contact with the supplier to resolve any potential doubts and if needed, we will visit the manufacturer. The first trials are carefully examined to make sure that all of the parameters specified are being followed correctly. This was done in this case.
The customer, in this way, can repeat the production and be sure that all of the variables are correct.
